The square of the Church of San José in Barranco Hondo, at the bottom of the footpath, or kilometre sixteen of the La Esperanza road, at the top, are the points from which you can gain access to this footpath. It offers a magnificent panoramic view of the entire Güímar Valley. This traditional footpath offers you the opportunity of getting to know some of the species of native fauna and flora which are most representative of the highland layer. Furthermore, the walker can walk through the “Protected Landscape of Las Lagunetas” and observe some of the relics of the forestry which once took place in this territory, including the “pinos breados”, from which the resin was extracted for waterproofing the hulls of boats.
